Do I need to make a mark on the plastic?

Plastic is not always the same

The chemical composition of plastic materials varies greatly. In fact, materials such as polycarbonate, polyamide, polyester, PE, PET, ABS, etc. are all considered plastics. Their various components imply different results for any process applied to them, including laser marking. In terms of the required wavelength, the choice of laser depends on the type of plastic involved.

For example, PET requires 9.3 μ You can obtain specific short wavelengths of m through CO2 laser engraving machines and UV laser engraving machines. Laser of different wavelengths may cause plastic to overheat, resulting in micropores and burns. The laser marking on this semi transparent plastic will produce white characters that appear to float on the surface. From PET bottles to films, laser marking on plastic with the correct parameters always provides clear and sharp results.

Laser vs inkjet

At present, the extensive specialization of different laser sources and modern laser technology enables us to perform laser marking on all types of plastics. Laser marking is superior to other technologies in terms of placing codes, logos, and designs on plastic components. Compared to inkjet printing, laser marking does not have issues with ink adhesion, contrast of dark substrates, or complexity of finishes. This is because the laser removes or changes the surface of the plastic material, or changes its color, resulting in contrast.
